Hawkes Bay Region

Hawkes Bay region is situated on the east coast of the North Island and is one of New Zealand's sunniest, driest regions. Hawkes Bay is known for its wines, fruit and gourmet foods, Art Deco architecture and glorious beaches and dramatic terrain.

Cape Kidnappers & Te Mata Peak are famous landmarks for stunning views as well as the gannet colony and world renowned golf resort. Hawkes Bay has a wide range of outdoor adventures from paragliding & hot air ballooning, to river kayaking, fishing and diving.

Hawkes Bay Wine Country is New Zealand's leading producer of red wines with numerous wineries open for wine tasting, alfesco & restaurant dining. The traditional Farmers Market in Hastings showcases the region's gourmet foods and organic produce.

Napier city has one of the highest concentrations of Art Deco architecture in the world and is famous for its annual Art Deco festival.

Three touring routes pass through Hawke's Bay - the Thermal Explorer Highway, Pacific Coast Highway and the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail.
