Priyanka’s Dream Holiday
We asked some people from overseas why they want to come to NZ and what their perception of a holiday here is. Here is what Priyanka from India has to say about her dream holiday – sounds great to us! Come soon Priyanka! And one trip will definitely not be enough! Here is what she dreams of…
A dream holiday to New Zealand
For a long time now, I have been fantasizing about exploring New Zealand – my number one dream destination! It’s easy to imagine a truly enchanting holiday given its natural beauty, fascinating wildlife as well as the deep and diverse culture. I love traveling, meeting people, discovering culinary treasures and soaking in the local culture.
If there’s one thing that my wanderings have taught me, it’s that travel can be just that much more rewarding with the right companions. And my best travel buddies for NZ, can only be my husband N, my dad, mum and sister Miss P. N loves music and adventure, so we’re sure to have a happy dose of both on our trip. Dad has an uncanny way of finding nooks, views and interesting details. Miss P has a generous dash of eccentric to make any day super fun. And mom, with her penchant for bargains and unbridled enthusiasm can really push us all to live it up.
Sun, sand and surf
Responding to the call of the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea, we’ll begin our holiday along the beaches. With over 15000 kilometers of coastline, we have so many places to choose from – the Coromandel, Bay of Islands, Ninety Mile Beach. Kaikoura is a must-see destination on my itinerary. A gorgeous coast, snow-dusted mountains, whale watching, scuba diving and dolphin spotting await us here. Plus lip-smacking crayfish!
The best bit about my travel buddies? We all love food, beer, wine and experimenting. With the superb food and fine wine on offer in NZ, we’d be happy troopers! The unique fare at wineries, authentic high country farms, city restaurants and café’s will all be sampled and relished by us.
Our trip to would be incomplete without a stop in Queenstown, hugely popular even with native Kiwis. It is the ‘Adventure Capital of the World’. We’ll bungy jump, ski, snow-board, sky dive and try new adventure sports like ziplining or swinging. Floating across the beautiful lake Wakitapu, riding up in the Skyline Gondola and having immersive Maori cultural experiences will add that extra sparkle to our NZ holiday.
To round off the brilliant holiday-of-a-lifetime, we’ll all head to the soul-nourishing bliss of natural thermal pools in Hanmer, Miranda or Rotorua. The mineral-rich waters will rejuvenate us – I look forward to wrinkled toes and happy souls.
There is so much more to see – pristine glaciers, ancient kauri trees, the Arctic Centre, Hobbiton – and do – cycle trails, camping, fishing – in stunning New Zealand!
I wonder if one trip will really be enough.
