Taranaki Region
Taranaki region is located on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The dominant feature is the snow-capped cone of Mount Taranaki (or Mount Egmont), the 2nd tallest mountain in the North Island and part of Egmont National Park.The region is exceptionally fertile with rich volcanic soil and lush green paddocks and dairy farming predominates.
Taranaki is home to a vibrant arts and crafts scene, gourmet cafes and restaurants, large scale music events and magnificent gardens of national significance, including Pukekura Park, Brooklands and Pukeiti. The Taranaki coastline has more than 200 km of swimming, walking, surfing, diving, kayaking, fishing and exploring opportunities.
